NORTHSTAR BANK'S PRIVACY STATEMENT

At NorthStar Bank (the Bank), the trust of our customers is our highest priority. Our customers have a right to expect that information they entrust to us will be treated with appropriate discretion and confidentiality. NorthStar Bank is committed to maintain your privacy and safeguarding your account, transactions and personal information. The following Privacy Policy notice outlines how we use and protect the Bank’s customer information.

When used in this Privacy Statement the words “we,” “our” and “us” refer to NorthStar Bank, the terms “you” and “your” refer to our customers and former customers.

  • A “nonaffiliated third party” is a person we do not employ or a company that is not affiliated with us, also known as a non affiliated third party or simply, an “other party”.

Employee access to nonpublic personal information is limited to only those individuals who actively engaged in providing a service or product you have requested. The Bank maintains physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with federal regulations to guard nonpublic personal information.

Categories of Information that NorthStar Bank Collects

NorthStar Bank collects nonpublic personal information about you from the following sources:

  • Information we receive from you on applications for the bank’s products or services or other forms, such as name, address, social security number, assets, and income;
  • Information we receive from your transactions with us, our affiliates, or others, such as balance, payment history, etc; and
  • Information we receive from a consumer-reporting agency, such as credit history or creditworthiness.

Internet Privacy

The Bank has implemented technology to help assure that any sensitive personal information you provide us or any account information you receive online at the Bank’s website is done in a safe and secure manner. Additionally, we have implemented procedures to help assure that only authorized employees of the Bank may view the information that you share with us. This is accomplished by limiting access to that information to only those employees having a legitimate business purpose for viewing or responding to your information or inquiries.


Unlike the personal information you provide us, the information we gather in the public area of our website is general information. This general information may come from “cookies”. Cookies are messages a web server (the bank’s server) gives to a browser (a user’s computer). The message contains information that is then stored on the customer’s computer and sent back to the server when the customer’s browser requests pages from the server. We use this information to determine which parts of our website are most useful and popular and how we can improve service to our customers. Cookies can only be read by the server that has sent the cookie to the browser and they cannot be used to retrieve any information from the customer’s computer that has not been given directly by the customer’s server. Computer viruses cannot be transmitted through cookies. Although customers can disallow cookies, we will at all times treat the information supplied through cookies with the same security and privacy protection as any other customer information they may receive.

E-Mail Security Information

Also included in the website is the capability to correspond with NorthStar Bank by e-mail. This activity may involve sharing some personal information about you with the Bank. We collect the e-mail addresses of those who correspond with us.

E-mail is not a secure transmission route. Therefore, we ask that you never send sensitive personal information like Social Security Numbers, account numbers, credit card numbers or any type of password via e-mail to NorthStar Bank or anyone else. If you decide to close your account(s) or become an inactive customer, the Bank will continue to adhere to the privacy policies and practices described in this notice.
