Dr. James Brookins

Dr. James Brookins

Dr. Brookins is a resident of Tampa and is the past Owner/CMO and Vice President of Medical Affairs of Access Health Solutions, a minority-owned managed care network of 800 Primary Care Physicians, serving over 120,000 Medicaid patients throughout the State of Florida. He is the past President of the Bay Area Medical Association and past President of the Florida State Medical Association. He is also the President, Founder and Chairman of the Community Health Advocacy Partnership (CHAP), a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. Dr. Brookins was appointed by Governor Jeb Bush to serve on the first two Pharmaceutical and Therapeutics committees for the state of Florida.

Mr. Cantonis is a resident of Belleair. He is the President of Acme Sponge & Chamois, Co., Inc. and currently sits on several Boards, including the Boards of Morton Plant Mease and North Bay Hospitals, as well as Morton Plant Mease Primary Care. He is past board chair of both Berkeley Preparatory School and Ruth Eckerd Hall. Mr. Cantonis was a Founding Board Member of Citizens Bank of Clearwater. He holds a MBA in Accounting from the University of Missouri and a BA in Psychology from Washington University, St. Louis.

Herb Goetschius

Herb Goetschius

Mr. Goetschius is a resident of Tampa and is the President of Help To Grow Services, LLC a business strategy and management consulting company.  He is the former President and COO of McNichols Company a nationwide steel fabricator and distributor and former Chairman of Cross Border Partners Advisory Services, an international trade consulting company. Mr. Goetschius holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Bowling Green State University and has completed post graduate advance management training programs at both Wharton and Ohio State. Mr. Goetschius has served on a variety of local and national boards, including The US Chamber of Commerce, The Phoenix Houses of Florida, The Sustany Foundation, Academic Excellence Foundation,  Prevent Blindness Florida , and the Arizona State University Center for Services Leadership. He chairs the annual Sustainable Business Awards program in partnership with the University of Tampa and the Sustany Foundation.

Scott Jacobsen

Scott Jacobsen
President & CEO

Mr. Jacobsen, a resident of South Tampa, is a banking veteran with over 30 years experience in the Tampa Bay market.  He joined NorthStar Bank in 2009 as the Commercial Banking Manager before being promoted to Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer in July, 2014 where he led the Commercial Banking Division as well as the overall operations of the bank. His previous experience includes commercial banking specialist at Merrill Lynch where he provided clients with commercial and investment banking products and services, commercial banking sales manager for Barnett Bank, where he was named Corporate Banker of the Year, office executive for The Bank of Tampa, and city president for AmSouth Bank.

Mr. Jacobsen holds a BA degree from Dickinson College, is a graduate of the Stonier ABA Graduate School of Banking and is also a Certified Financial Planner. Active in the local community, he is on the Executive Committee for the Boys & Girls Club of Tampa Bay, an organization he has been involved with for over 20 years.  Mr. Jacobsen is past chairman of the Boys & Girls Club of Tampa Bay.  Mr. Jacobsen previously served on the Executive Committee for Board of Directors for the Outback Bowl and is also past Board President for A Brighter Community Tampa Bay.  He is also an alumnus of the Tampa Connection and Leadership Tampa.

Dr. Dev Mangar

Dr. Dev Mangar

Devanand Mangar, MD, resident of Tampa, is President and CEO of Florida Gulf-to-Bay Anesthesiology Associates and Tampa Outpatient Surgical Facility. Besides serving as Chief of Anesthesia for eight years, he also served as Chief of Medical Staff at Tampa General Hospital for three years. Dr. Mangar was awarded his medical degree from the State University of New York in Syracuse and completed his Anesthesiology residency at SUNY-Syracuse, New York. He is the past president of the Hillsborough County Medical Association. Dr. Mangar is also an active member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, Florida Medical Association, American Medical Association, Fellow of the America College of Chest Physicians, and Hillsborough County Medical Association. In 2006, Dr. Mangar established a 501(c)(3) called the University Foundation for Education and Research to help support access to care and improve positive outcomes to the delivery of healthcare.  He has published numerous abstracts, chapters, scientific papers and continues to further his contribution through clinical and academic research.  In 2015, Dr. Mangar became affiliated with University of Padua and is conducting research in ketogenic diet. In the same affiliation, he is actively involved in the “wellness” arena.

Mr. Marshall is a resident of Palm Harbor and retired in 2004 from his position as Senior Vice-President of Credit Card Operations for JP Morgan Chase where he had been employed since 1969.  He received his BBA degree (1977) from The City University of New York, Bernard M. Baruch College and a Masters in Business Administration degree (1989) from New York University. He is the current Chair of the Board of the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay and the Council of Education Change. He serves as Vice Chair of the Straz Center for the Performing Arts and is a member of the board of the Hillsborough Education Foundation  the University Area Community Development Corporation, and the Caribbean American National Development Organization.

Joe Merluzzi

Joe Merluzzi

Mr. Merluzzi is a resident of Tampa. He is the past Headmaster of Berkeley Preparatory School. Previously he served as Head of Cranbrook Kingswood Upper School in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. He earned his Master of Arts in Mathematics from Fairfield University and Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Western Connecticut State College. Mr. Merluzzi sits on the CLW Real Estate Board of Advisors. He has been actively involved in local, state and national independent school organizations in which he has held various offices.

Martin Schaffel

Mr. Schaffel is a resident of Tampa and founded  Audio Visual Innovations, Inc. (AVI) in 1979 and continues to serve as the executive chairman of the growing enterprise that specializes in creating and selling audio video products and services to corporate, education, healthcare, military and government markets worldwide.  AVI-SPL was named the 2008 Professional Service winner and the Overall Business of the Year by the Tampa Bay Business Journal.  Mr. Schaffel has been honored with the Life Time Achievement Award in Entrepreneurship by the University of Florida in 2009.

Dr. Rebecca White

Dr. Rebecca White

Dr. Rebecca White, resident of Apollo Beach, is the James W. Walter Distinguished Chair in Entrepreneurship and Professor of Entrepreneurship at the University of Tampa. She received an MBA and a Ph.D. in Strategic Management from Virginia Tech University and a BS from Concord University. Dr. White was co-founder of RiskAware, LLC  and was the founder and director of the Women’s Entrepreneurship Institute, an educational program for female entrepreneurs offered jointly with the New York Times, and the Northern Kentucky University Entrepreneurship Center. She sits on numerous Boards, including the Global Consortium of Entrepreneurship Centers Executive Council and is President of the United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship.
