History

In 2005, a small group of business people had a vision for a new bank focused on building solid customer relationships through unparalleled personal service, backed by the latest banking innovations and technology. After raising nearly $18 million in capital, from 120 local shareholders, NorthStar Bank opened its doors for business in Tampa Bay on August 6, 2007.

Since then, we’ve offered a true alternative to mega-regional banks for everyone from complex commercial/corporate clients to individuals who are looking for a strong, stable community bank. NorthStar Bank is the Community Bank for Tampa Bay.

In 2013, we expanded to Belleair Bluffs, our second office and our first in Pinellas County. This allows us to offer even more convenience for many of our commercial, industrial and personal clients.

With the high demand for an office in South Tampa, we partnered with BDG Architects and Creative Contractors to design and construct a state-of-the-art building.  We broke ground on April 7, 2015 and opened the doors for business on August 29, 2015.

In October 2016, David Stone retired and Scott Jacobsen was promoted from Chief Operating Officer to President and CEO.  Rob Shaw was promoted to Chief Operating Officer. Scott and Rob will lead NorthStar on its next phase of growth.

NorthStar Bank’s strong financial condition has been recognized with a “Five Star” Bauer Rating, the highest attainable by BauerFinancial, a leading independent bank rating and research firm.
